An author’s article by Svitlana Krot, Head of the “SviTY” educational programme of the KIDS OF UKRAINE charitable foundation, has been published on the TSN website and is dedicated to preserving the emotional bond between parents and teenagers.
The material explores how adolescence changes communication within families, why today’s children need dialogue and explanations rather than an authoritarian approach, and how adults’ honesty helps build trust and create a safe space for conversation. The author also highlights the importance of parents’ emotional presence and the ability to talk about feelings even in the challenging context of war.
The article also presents approaches used by the “SviTY” team in working with teenagers to support family communication and restore connection between children and adults.
