This is the story of 12-year-old Kira, a girl from Kherson who, due to active hostilities, found herself in a completely new reality. It is a story about how support and a safe space helped her believe in herself again.
The Beginning of the Journey
In March 2025, Kira began attending the “SviTY” space. The relocation and new living conditions made her quiet, shy, and reserved. During sessions, she usually kept to herself, responded only when addressed, and rarely initiated conversations. It was clear that she seemed to be hiding her inner world and not allowing herself to fully express who she was.
A Turning Point: The Carpathian Summer Camp
Significant changes came in the summer when Kira attended the “SviTY” summer camp in the Carpathian Mountains. It was there that she began actively engaging with her peers and participating in group activities. She contributed to her team’s work, took part in a theatrical performance, and overcame a challenging mountain hike. The supportive atmosphere and new connections helped her gradually open up, and she faced each challenge with growing confidence.
Today, Kira is more open in communication and expresses herself with greater confidence. The “SviTY” program helped her find a sense of stability, inner support, and personal strength.
